Facebook users, attention four things that must be avoided

Facebook actually is a social networking service. That means, you are free to share stories, holiday photos, or simply share stories anything in the service.

However, because of the “occupied” as well as by many other users, surely you can not be too freely express themselves on Facebook.

The people who inhabit friends on your Facebook account would have their own ideas, how to read and enjoy different. They could have been offended or disturbed the status that is not fair.

Order status or news that you uploaded was transformed to be a nuisance, we recommend the following four things you should avoid at Facebook:

  1. Excessive intimacy

Falling in love is wonderful. Occasionally show the love that the couple is certainly good, if it is done on the spot and at the appropriate levels.

You would never find a friend Facebook uploading pictures intimate at 9.00pm, and then uploading photos of other intimate at 9:00 am, and so on for a few hours in a day.

Because the frequency is too frequent, obviously it would be quite disturbing. Therefore, it helps reduce the frequency of this kind of post.

If you want to continue doing so, the best advice is to simply share a post of this kind with her lover alone.

  1. Broadcast game invitation

Playing games with social concept is fun. Examples Candy Crush that let players send a request for help to his friend.

Every now and then, especially when both are playing the game, please request an invitation will be fun. After all, we can also send you back and continue the game.

In fact, not everyone playing Candy Crush or other social games. There are also people who just want to enjoy Facebook without interruption and demand game like that just annoy them.

We recommend sorting the delivery request an invitation to play the game. Simply send in people who both play and stop sending randomly.

For those of you who want to reject the invitation to play the game automatically,

  1. So the campaign tools too often

Have you ever opened up and find a full status of your status, photos, or links writing insults or praise the candidate and the leader of a particular political party?

This condition usually appears before the general elections. Facebook friends who had been silent, suddenly became chatty and meet your status with insults and praise it.

Conditions like this is not fun. Because Facebook that had been used for communication and entertainment, instead turned into a campaign tool.

If it supports a particular political stance, should do with the fair in the real world. No need to upload support or lashing in a row on Facebook. No need to change your account so your campaign machine.

  1. Too many upload your child’s photo

Various behavior is cute and adorable babies. But do not let you upload too many photos of your child, how funny whatever it is.

Do not consider this as a prohibition to upload your child’s photo. A peck enough levels. You do not need to shoot every second baby activities and upload them to the online album.

Not everyone can enjoy the photo album, and certainly there are bored when it appearing every day.

As a variation, try documentation of how the changes you are a student or a student being a father or mother to the children.

SQL Server brings together Microsoft and Linux

Cooperation between linux and microsoft continues. This time collaboration in the field of database where Microsoft will launch SQL Server version of Linux. Microsoft on Tuesday announced plans to release a version of its enterprise database product SQL Server 2016 for Linux.

“Bringing SQL Server to Linux is another way we are making our products and new innovations more accessible to a broader set of users and meeting them where they are,” said Scott Guthrie, executive vice president for Microsoft’s cloud and enterprise group.

With a Linux version, SQL Server will be able to deliver a consistent data platform across Windows Server and Linux, in the cloud and on-premises, he noted.

SQL Server for Linux also will bring to Linux users features such as mission-critical performance, industry-leading total cost of ownership, security, and hybrid cloud innovations such as Stretch Database, which lets customers access their data on-premises and in the cloud whenever they want, Guthrie said.

Microsoft has made a preview of SQL Server for Linux available. The final product is expected to ship in mid-2017.

Delivering on Hybrid Cloud

Microsoft believes that creating a Linux version of SQL Server will have a number of benefits for the product.

“Customers will be able to build and deploy more of their applications on a single data management and business analytics platform,” Microsoft said in a statement provided to LinuxInsider by spokesperson Jennifer Reynolds.

Customers also will be able to leverage existing tools, talent and resources for more of their applications, the company noted.

What’s more, partners with applications built on SQL Server will be able to serve more of their customers’ environments, expanding their addressable market, Microsoft said.

“With Microsoft bringing SQL Server to Linux, enterprises will be able to further integrate disparate platforms to deliver on the promise of the hybrid cloud, while increasing the choice that developers, customers and partners have as open source continues to form the foundation of the platforms of the future,” said Mike Ferris, Red Hat’s director of business architecture.
Expanding SQL Server Market

Offering a Linux version of SQL Server is all about expanding market opportunities for Microsoft, noted IDC analyst Al Gillen.

“It’s about capturing opportunities on Linux servers that Microsoft today doesn’t have any offerings for,” he told LinuxInsider.

“That’s an important piece of the market,” Gillen continued, “but it’s not huge. It’s not going to double Microsoft’s volume or anything like that.”

The move is also about garnering mindshare with customers, he added, “so that customers moving to a Linux platform will continue to think of Microsoft as a provider of the services and software that they need to run their businesses.”

If those customers choose to use SQL Server in their on-premises Linux deployments, then when they move to the cloud, Microsoft hopes it can sell them on using Azure, the company’s cloud offering, Gillen said.

“If they get the customers to use SQL Server, they have the opportunity to keep these guys as customers going forward,” he said.
Brave New World for Microsoft

SQL Server for Linux is an expansion play by Microsoft, according to Jack E. Gold, principal at J.Gold Associates.

“There’s a pretty substantial Linux community out there that Microsoft would love to sell its database to,” he told LinuxInsider.

The move is also a recognition that the company is competing in a mixed vendor world.

“A fair number of Microsoft shops aren’t pure Microsoft anymore, so increasingly companies that are deploying Linux in their infrastructure have had to look for a mixed database environment. Microsoft is trying to solve that for them,” Gold said.

In addition, Microsoft is going to start running Linux on Azure, so it wants SQL Server to run there too, he said.

“The bottom line to all of this,” Gold said, “is that with [Microsoft CEO Satya] Nadella in charge, Microsoft is starting to listen to their customers, rather than telling customers what they should deploy.”
Coup for Linux

Microsoft’s embrace of Linux is part of a larger trend at the company, noted Jim McGregor, principal analyst at Tirias Research.

“There was a large internal battle over whether applications should be decoupled from Windows. Now they realize they have to be more flexible in a changing environment,” he told LinuxInsider.

“Not everything in today’s infrastructure is running Microsoft’s operating system,” McGregor said. “By being more flexible, it opens up the market for them.”

In addition to benefiting Microsoft, SQL Server for Linux has some benefits for the open source operating system’s community, too.

“Microsoft’s announcement that they plan to bring SQL Server to Linux is further validation of the power and acceptance of open source in enterprise environments,” Red Hat’s Ferris told LinuxInsider.

“It gives Linux even more credibility than it already has,” IDC’s Gillen noted. “If Microsoft is convinced that Linux is a platform that needs to be supported, what does that say about Linux? It says it’s a respected and powerful platform.”

Brazil is facing the threat of digital crime

In international cases involving digital data, it’s not uncommon for national laws to be at loggerheads. That’s especially true when the nations involved have laws that treat privacy differently. Those conflicts can produce frustration that leads to the kind of extreme behavior Brazilian authorities engaged in last week.

“These conflicts will continue, because the way foreign governments can obtain data stored with a U.S. provider is to go through the Mutual Legal Assistance Treaty process,” explained Jadzia Butler, a fellow on privacy, surveillance, and security at the Center for Democracy & Technology.

“Unfortunately, this process is extremely cumbersome. It can take up to 10 months for a foreign law enforcement agency to get the data it needs,” she told TechNewsWorld.

“So governments like Brazil and others have started to resort to extreme tactics in order to get the data,” Butler said. Those measures include data localization mandates and intimidation of local officials.

Reform Needed

Reform of the existing MLATs system is on the U.S. congressional agenda.

The House Judiciary Committee last month held a hearing on the subject. The committee is considering what rules should apply when two countries claim jurisdiction over the same piece of data, noted Gregory T. Nojeim, director of the CDT’s Project on Freedom, Security and Technology.

“Increasingly, one country’s law will require disclosure and another country’s law will prohibit it, or at least subject the disclosure to local rules that the requesting country may find difficult to meet,” he observed.

“Because of the explosive growth of global communications and of communications service providers, and because of the increasingly central role that communications content and metadata play in law enforcement investigations worldwide, this problem is growing,” Nojeim continued.

“Moreover, because the largest communications service providers are located in the U.S., the volume of data demands coming into the U.S. from foreign governments far exceeds the volume of demands made by the U.S.,” he said.

The CDT is one of several groups that are trying to find a way to streamline the MLAT process. One possibility is to create an alternative framework for obtaining data for countries that meet specific human rights criteria, suggested CDT’s Butler.

“Until that happens, I would say conflicts like the one in Brazil will continue to happen,” she said. “It’s frightening.”
The Geography of E-Fraud

Electronic fraud claimed 13 million victims in 2015, according to a Javelin study released earlier this year, but where you live in the United States can determine your chances of being one of those victims.

The states with the highest rates of billing fraud were Florida, Delaware, Oregon, California and Washington, D.C., according to an Experian study released last week. The highest for shipping fraud were Delaware, Oregon, Florida, California and Nevada.

Why are some regions more prone to e-fraud than others?

“A lot of it has to do with proximity to port cities,” said Adam Fingersh, senior vice president of fraud and identity solutions at Experian.

Counter to many expectations, big cities are not necessarily fraud magnets, he noted.

“While there are a number of big cities that are ranked high, we also see a number of small cities that are ranked as having high risk,” Fingersh told TechNewsWorld.
Path of Least Resistance

Fraud appears to follow the path of least resistance.

“We’ve seen that as a result of pulling pin-and-chip technologies into the U.S., fraudsters are looking for other avenues to exploit,” Fingerish said.

“As a result, card-not-present fraud, as anticipated from what we’ve seen in other regions, becomes one of those channels that fraudsters can look to backfill opportunities prior to the introduction of chip-and-pin,” he explained.

Although hard numbers aren’t yet available for correlating card-not-present fraud rates with the introduction of chip-and-pin or EMV technology, there is evidence that CNP rates will be getting higher.

“During the most recent Black Friday holiday, there was a significant volume in card-not-present fraud, and some of the geographies referenced in our study saw a significant increase in that time frame,” Fingersh said.

“We know there’s a gradual climb in card-not-present fraud as EMV is rolled out,” he added.
Drafting Hackers

The Pentagon last week announced that it was launching a bug bounty program to make Defense Department computers more secure.

The “Hack the Pentagon” initiative is the first bug bounty program in the history of the federal government, according to DoD.

Under the pilot program, the department will use commercial sector crowdsourcing to allow qualified participants to conduct vulnerability identification and analysis on its public Web pages.

The bug bounty program is modeled after similar competitions conducted by some of the nation’s biggest companies in an effort to improve the security and delivery of networks, products and digital services.

The pilot marks the first in a series of programs designed to find vulnerabilities in the department’s applications, websites, and networks.
Outside the 5-Sided Box

The bug bounty program shows a willingness on the part of Secretary of Defense Ashton Carter to push the Pentagon bureaucracy out of its comfort zone in meaningful ways, according to the Center for a New American Security.

“This initiative, with its potential to cause embarrassment or unintended breaches of critical systems, undoubtedly drew bureaucratic push back in its development,” wrote CNAS Program Director Ben Fitzgerald and CNAS Senior Fellow Loren DeJonge in a statement. “But these are precisely the fears and cultural factors the secretary needs to incentivize the institutional Pentagon to overcome if his innovation agenda is to take hold.”

Although the bug bounty program has received kudos from the security community, some have questioned whether the momentum Secretary Carter is trying to build will fizzle when a new administration takes office in 2017.

That’s not likely, said Casey Ellis, CEO Bugcrowd.

“The need for people to solve the vulnerability discovery problem will never go away, and ultimately a distributed resourcing approach like a bug bounty program is the only way for the DoD to access resourcing and economics that are on parity with their adversaries,” he told TechNewsWorld.

The default video player on your Android phone will probably ‘do the job’ and play most standard video formats without much fuss. But if you’re playing niche formats or enjoy tinkering with the video settings to get the perfect picture, then you’ll need to branch out.

VLC for Android supports a huge number of video formats and has a slew of adjustable settings to create the viewing experience you desire. You can also use hardware acceleration to take full advantage of your smartphone’s processor. The gestures are simple and intuitive, and the audio player is also highly capable. Check it out.

Best education app

Khan Academy is a portal to a higher educational dimension, and is the place to go if you’re interested in learning pretty much anything science-, math- or physics-related. The app is still pretty fresh-faced – although Khan Academy itself has been going strong for almost 10 years – but it puts more than 10,000 videos at your fingertips, covering all learning levels in an admirably approachable way.

There are also courses on art history, economics and more. It’s all completely free, so we highly recommend you give it a go.

Best GPS and navigation app

HERE is Nokia’s own map app, which it used on its devices once upon a time. It provides everything you’d expect, including turn-by-turn navigation, search and satellite imagery, but the main draw is its offline feature. You can download maps of entire countries and use them almost exactly as you would online, without wasting precious MBs.

This is really an indispensable app if you travel a lot or frequently find your data usage going over the limit. The only downside is that you have to register to download maps, but it’s totally free, and once you’ve done it, you can go nuts and download the world.

Best Android file manager app

ES File Explorer has been our go-to file explorer for years. If you’re having trouble tracking down documents or pictures in your internal storage or microSD card, this is the app for your.

ES just works. It offers myriad extra features, but the reason it’s so widely used it because it has nailed the basic sorting of files. You can find all of your music, images, videos and more without having to dive through layers and layers of subfolders: the most common types of files are all accessible with simple shortcuts on the main screen.

The subtle animations are great, it rarely bothers you with notifications and it provides a one-touch way to clear out old and unused files to free up space. In short, ES File Explorer is the best way to keep your data organized on Android.

Best Android-exclusive app

iOS is a fierce rival to Android and offers a range of great apps and features, but it doesn’t offer everything that Android does. Nova Launcher is one of our favorite Android-exclusive apps because, in many ways, it underlines what is so great about Android.

Nova is an alternative launcher compatible with Android 4.1 onward. It lets you customize the entire look and feel of your operating system, from changes to font size, to the number of apps that can appear on the lock screen, to the way in which your app drawer scrolls. Nova Launcher is a prime example of how Android can be molded to suit individual tastes and preferences, in a way that iOS cannot.

If you wish you could make a few simple changes to your current interface, then give the free version of Nova a try. Nova even lets you adopt the look of any other phone – Galaxy, Xperia, HTC, LG, even iOS if that’s your thing.

Best Android app for kids

There are a whole bunch of educational apps, games and books that you can download on your Android phone or tablet, you just need to hit the ‘categories’ section in the Play Store and select an age group, or subcategory such as ‘education’.

Once you’ve installed some suitable apps, we recommend downloading Kids Place. This app allows you to assign the particular apps and games you want to give young ones access to, and restricts them to a screen that shows these apps only (until a PIN code is entered).

Kids Place also prevents children from sending messages or purchasing other apps while using the device, and you can set a time limit for how long access is granted; think of it as temporarily putting your phone or tablet in safe mode.

Best app for musicians on Android

Do you find yourself bobbing your head along to the rhythm of the train when you’re sitting on it, or composing silent melodies in your head that you know would sound amazing if only you could record them at that moment? Then you should check out Caustic 3, the latest version of the popular mobile music-making machine. Using this powerful tool, you can use one of 14 different synthesizers, vocoders and drum machines to create that perfect sound on the move. Caustic 3 is a deep and complex app, so be prepared to put some time into, but the results are great.

Best app you won’t find in the Play Store

Sometimes you have to venture beyond the Play Store to find the best apps. From our collection of favorite apps found outside the Play Store, our number one was Videoder. Using this app, you can download YouTube videos to your device in various formats and resolutions – including 1,080p.

Anything you download will automatically be saved to the video section of your gallery, and be instantly ready to watch, stream to Chromecast or otherwise do with as you please.

Best unknown Android app

Ask Me Anything, brought to us by Reddit AMA, is a unique and surprisingly low-key app which lets you read the latest celebrity AMA interviews, and also send over questions that you’d like to ask those celebrities. You can also vote on questions other people present, and help decide whether those questions get asked to famous faces from the worlds of film, sport, science, and more. Strange that an app involving celebrities wouldn’t be very popular, right?

Best cloud storage app for Android

Cloud storage is so commonplace now that its name doesn’t sound quite as mystical and ethereal as it did a few years ago. That doesn’t make it any less useful, as storing your personal data online is – for the most part – much safer than keeping it on a fragile old hard drive.

We’re prepared to accept accusations of bias here, as our favorite cloud storage app is Google Drive. it’s baked into most Android devices, Google is always giving extra GBs of storage space away for free, and it’s synced up with the handy Google Docs office suite. It’s the undisputed champ.

Best messenger app for Android

There are some obvious contenders for ‘Best messaging app’ on Android – WhatsApp and Facebook Messenger to name a couple. To suggest something a little different, Dasher is often at the forefront of the messenger universe, introducing unusual features before any other app.

It lets you transfer money to contacts, and you can share and play YouTube videos and GIFs in the app itself, to name just a few of the features.

Best offline app for Android

When you don’t have a Wi-Fi or data connection it’s too late to download one. We’ve got the best of the best of offline apps for Android for your offline enjoyment. One of the very best offline Android apps of all is Pocket, and offline reader app that saves text and images for reading later on. No more bookmarking, link sharing or copy pasting when you’ve Pocket in your pocket.

Best lock screen app for Android

Lock screen apps are awesome – you can do things on your smartphone or tablet without even having to unlock it. From checking notifications, calendar reminders, music controls, missed calls, Quick Settings and more, Next Lock Screen lets you take control of your locked phone. Next will even suggest apps based on your location.

Best alternative to the Play Store

The first thing you should know is that the Google Play Store is not the only place you can get Android apps. Sure, it’s the biggest and the most official, but there are lots of apps out there that never quite made it to Google Play or that simply exist elsewhere (like in the Amazon app store for example).

Our favorite Google Play Store alternative is Humble Bundle, which offers pay-what-you-want bundles of high-end games. The games are for Android and PC, and all the money made is split between the developers, the site itself and a variety of charities.

There are plenty of weather apps available that are more accurate and better looking than the ones that come pre-installed on your Android device.

MORECAST is our current favorite weather app here at AndroidPIT because it has one of the best-looking interfaces, with a clear and sensible layout. It’s also one of the most advanced apps of its kind, featuring such options as side-by-side weather comparisons for two cities, and accurate weather information for a particular route or journey. Best launcher app for Android

Launchers offer a simple way to customize the look and feel of your Android phone. They often combine new icons, a new app drawer layout, a new homescreen and new wallpaper to make your device fit a certain style or theme.

You have to try them out to appreciate how fun they can be and the one we recommend right now is Action Launcher 3. This is an excellent introduction to launchers because it provides clear and intuitive interface changes without adding so many that it becomes off-putting.

With Action Launcher 3 you can perform simple tweaks such as changing the app drawer layout, changing app icons, and even altering the way you use your homescreen folders. It offers genuinely useful interface improvements and it’s free; download it from the link below.

Best security/antivirus app

Android security is a contentious subject and arguments about the safety of the system crop up frequently. If you are in the market for an antivirus app, our current favorite is Mobile Security & Antivirus from Avast.

Mobile Security & Antivirus keeps you safe from malware threats with its excellent virus detection software, which can search through your browser history, microSD card, and internal storage space. What’s more, it employs anti-theft features such as location tracking and remote data wipe, which work even if your device is not currently in your possession.

As far as free mobile security is concerned, Avast’s app is about as comprehensive as it gets.

Best Android browser app

As a Google product, Chrome is the perfect browser for Android and, since it comes pre-installed on most phones, it’s something that most people are familiar with. Chrome Beta is our current best Android browser app because it’s just the, ahem, better version of the browser we already love.

Chrome beta is Chrome of the future, it’s what the standard Chrome app will become once Google applies the latest changes, fixes and improvements it is working on. Chrome beta users get to experience these things before the masses.

The price paid for quicker access to new features is that, of course, sometimes there are bugs or issues that need to be ironed out. None of these will cause any damage to your phone or its software however, and these browser crashes and stutters very rare.

Best Android keyboard app

This keyboard is one of the best for fast, accurate typing and it’s our new company favorite. Many of us have adopted Fleksy because it’s big, it’s clever and once you use it for a couple of hours, you realize how useful some of the smaller details are.

For example, most keyboards use a “press and hold delete key” gesture to delete words, Fleksy uses a super-quick backward swipe. Be sure check out some of the extensions like invisible keyboard too — it works surprisingly well. Download it from the Play Store for free now.
